How to Remodel Your Office

When I decided to remodel my office, I didn't know how to start. My wife suggested that I phone a local remodelling contractor. The contractor inspected the space and made lots of useful suggestions about how I could make best use of the space. Once we had made a plan, the contractor got to work transforming the space. I was amazed at the speed with which the old office was transformed into a modern workplace. I wanted to start a blog so I could write about what I have learnt about remodelling an office. I hope you enjoy the articles I have published here.

3 Signs Your Office Needs a Refurbishment

If you've been in your current office space for a while, then it might be time to think about a refurbishment. You might have decorated periodically, but you might not have changed the layout and functionality since you moved in.

If it has been a few years since you evaluated your office space, then now might be the time to bring in an office fit-out specialist. How can you tell if your space needs to be remodelled or refurbished?

1. Your Office Looks Tired and Dated

Even if you've painted your office every few years to spruce it up, it might look outdated. If your fixtures and fittings, like your desks, chairs and partitions, date back to your original move-in date, then you'll have created a bit of a time capsule.

Plus, your fittings and furniture might be on their last legs by now. Partitions might be wobbly, dirty and scruffy. Your desks might look old and clunky.

You can tell if you aren't 100% happy with the way your office looks by how you feel if people visit your business. If you don't like bringing clients into the building because your office space doesn't make your business look good, then it's time for a makeover

2. Your Space Doesn't Work Now

When you first set up your office, you'll have organised your space around your employee and team needs. If you've got more employees now, then your layout might not be as efficient as it was.

For example, you might have to split teams rather than keep them working in the same area. You may not have enough space to fit everyone in comfortably any longer.

Even if you have enough people space, you might not be using parts of your building efficiently now. For example, you might have built special filing cabinets and bookcases to store paper documents and files when you first moved in. You don't need these fittings now you use computer-based storage, so they just take up space you could use for something else.

3. Your Employees Aren't as Productive as They Used to Be

People want to work in organised and pleasant environments. They want light, space and good facilities. If you can't offer them these things right now, then your employees might not like working in your building. They might feel demotivated, and their productivity might dip.

If you bring in an office fit-out specialist, they can take a look at your space and help you use it more effectively. As well as improving the way your space looks and works, you'll also create a better working environment for your staff.
